Out of nowhere a few weeks ago I decided that I wanted to try eyelash extensions. I'd seen lots of women on social media (namely Instagram) with them although had never thought to get them myself before.
What are eyelash extensions?
Basically they're individual artificial eyelashes that are glued onto your actual individual lashes using a special adhesive. You can choose from a full set or a half set and they can last for as long as six weeks if you're gentle with them (they fall out when your natural lashes fall out during their growth cycle) but it's recommended to get refills around the 3 week mark.
It's important that if you do decide to try out eyelash extensions that you go to someone reputable to have them done - all you have to do is Google 'bad eyelash extensions' to get an insight into why you should only have a trained professional to do this.
Luckily right in front of my work's studio is Bagua Beauty Salon, and I knew that Jess would do an ace job! I decided to go for a half set as I only wanted a subtle look and I reeeeally love them.
An hour and half was allowed for the appointment although it didn't take quite as long as that. I just laid there and had a great chat with Jess. It was completely pain-free, actually quite relaxing although I do suggest shutting your eyes tightly as I had mine a bit relaxed and the fumes did irritate my eyes for a couple of days afterwards.
Thankfully there's a lot less general maintenance than I had read before going in. To give them the longest life possible simply avoid rubbing your eyes too much and applying oils to the area. I haven't even bothered to wear mascara because they already look so good without and I've barely worn any other eye makeup which also helps to keep them looking new for longer.
So, if you're looking to try them out and want to go somewhere fun, friendly and affordable I definitely recommend popping into Bagua in Fortitude Valley!
